...a real hottie: Chris Botti.

Christopher Botti (Portland, Oregon, 12 oktober 1962) is trompetist en componist; groeide op in Corvallis, en bracht twee jaar van zijn kindertijd door in Italië.

Botti wordt wel eens "de kroonprins van Chet Baker" genoemd. Maar Botti heeft ooit een succesvolle carrière gehad als studiomuzikant in de popwereld. De trompettist is bijvoorbeeld te horen op platen van Bob Dylan en Aretha Franklin.
Aan het begin van de jaren negentig trad hij toe tot de band van Paul Simon, een verblijf dat vijf jaar zou duren. In 1995 verscheen zijn eerste solo-album, een poppy plaat met scherpe art-rock kantjes. Sting en Michael Bublé nodigden hem uit als gastsolist tijdens hun tournees...

Op zijn prestigieuze album 'To Love Again' kan Botti eindelijk iets voor hen terugdoen. Hij ruimde een vocaal plaatsje in voor zijn voormalige beschermheren. Het feit dat ook o.a. Jill Scott, Gladys Knight en Billy Childs op dit album zijn te horen, zegt genoeg over de plaats die Botti inneemt in de huidige jazzwereld.
