A Fistful of Ennio Morricone
Ennio Morricone (Rome, 10 november 1928) is een Italiaanse componist die de muziek voor ruim 500 films en televisieseries componeerde en arrangeerde. Daarnaast schreef hij een honderdtal popsongs (o.a. voor Paul Anka en Mireille Mathieu) en een 150-tal andere klassieke composities zoals een opera, een tiental viool- en pianoconcerten en kamermuziek.Tot zijn filmscores behoren 'For A Few Dollars More' (1965), 'The Good, The Bad & The Ugly' (1966), 'Once Upon A Time In The West' (1968), 'Once Upon a Time in America' (1984), 'The Mission' (1986), 'The Untouchables' (1987), 'Cinema Paradiso' (1989), 'Bugsy' (1991), 'Wolf' (1994), 'Malèna' (2001) en 'Fateless' (2005). Hij schrijft momenteel muziek voor 'Carpone Rising' van Brian De Palma en 'Baaria, La porta del vento' van Giuseppe Tornatore.
Morricone werkt nog steeds 7 dagen op 7, negen uur lang, aan composities en dit zonder enig muziekinstrument te gebruiken. Tot zijn recentste scores behoort 'Carpone Rising' van Brian De Palma, de sequel op The Untouchables van 1987.
De componist verkocht meer dan 40 miljoen albums en singles, waarvan 5,2 miljoen in Frankrijk en 2,5 miljoen in de Verenigde Staten.
