De Brazilificatie van een producerscollectief

In 1990 begonnen Dave "Man" McSherry en Steve Cobby als het producerscollectief Fila Brazillia. Sindsdien zijn jaarlijks albums verschenen, diverse singles en talloze remixes.

Op het gebied van remixes heeft Fila Brazillia de laatste jaren flink aan de weg getimmerd met remixes voor bijv. Radiohead, Busta Rhymes en The Orb. Brazillification, bijvoorbeeld, is een frisse mix van up- en downtempo waarbinnen de diverse stijlen op voortreffelijke wijze worden samengesmolten. Ergens doet het denken aan Kruder en Dorfmeister, maar "Brazilification" zijn twee albums vol met niet te missen Br(az)illiante remixen!

Cobby en McSherry zijn meesters in het ophoesten van pakkende soundscapes, nonchalante pogingen tot het componeren van klassieke popsongs of het breien van funky postrock. Fila Brazillia biedt, net als bijvoorbeeld Zero 7 of Kinobe, veel meer dan eendimensionale chillout-muziek. Voortdurend duiken fraaie melodietjes op of wordt er nadrukkelijk geflirt met afroblues en soul.
