Mark Farina (25 maart 1969, Chicago, Illinois) geniet zowel binnen de house- als de downtempo-sector veel respect. Hij levert een soepele downtempo-dj-mix af die leunt op (abstracte) hip-hop, nu-soul, jazzy breakbeats en mengvormen hiervan.

Farina, één van de eerste grote, buitenlandse dj-namen is geboren in Chicago en -hoe kan het ook anders- is bekend van zijn Chicago-house met acid jazz invloeden. In de VS is Farina een groots resident-dj. Hij reist al jaren de wereld rond om iedereen te laten kennismaken met zijn house-sets. Hij stond al in voor diverse releases en compilaties. In z’n gigs springt hij moeiteloos om met vleugjes hiphop en jazz.

Deel zeven uit de bejubelde "Mushroom Jazz"-reeks verschijnt niet via het vertrouwde Om Records (uit San Francisco), maar via het kersverse Mushroom Jazz Recordings. Aan het concept en de muzikale invloeden is gelukkig niets veranderd...
Dit is eens te meer voer voor liefhebbers van zowel soulful hip-hop, moderne jazz en downtempo beats....
