De Strength, Courage, & Wisdom van India Arie

De 25-jarige Afro-Amerikaanse India Arie uit Atlanta, VS, wordt vaak betiteld als een kruising tussen Erykah Badu en Lauryn Hill.

Ze debuteert zeer indrukwekkend en succesvol met Acoustic Soul. Daarop combineert ze hiphop met akoestische muziek, en benadert ze wat Hill doet, en ook haar stem is net zo warm en soulful. In het nummer "Video" stelt ze zichzelf uitgebreid voor. En ze bewijst haar geestelijke kracht in "Strenght, courage and wisdom". "Brown skin" vertelt over haar liefde voor haar eigen huidskleur.
India Arie schrijft, arrangeert en produceert alles zelf. Daarnaast speelt ze alle gitaarpartijen.
Afgezien van hiphop houdt ze van traditionele singer-songwriters als JamesTaylor, Bonnie Raitt, Donny Hathaway en Oleta Adams en dat is aan de liedjes af te horen.

De tweede cd, Voyage To India, blijkt een nog betere opvolger te zijn.
En nu -eind juni- was er dus de nieuwe single "I Am Not My Hair", die na vier jaar eindelijk de nieuwe CD "Testimony: Vol. 1, Life & Relationship" aankondigde...
