Mood in the belly: Xavier Rudd
Rudds albums worden vaak opgenomen in Australië of in Canada, waar hij reeds een zekere populariteit heeft opgebouwd. Food in the Belly was zijn eerste album dat internationaal uitgebracht werd. De hoes van 'Dark Shades of Blue' is een schilderij van de hand van Rudds vrouw, Marci Lutken. Terwijl de albums van 'To Let' tot 'White Moth' een warmer, vrolijker, meer folkloristisch en roots geluid hebben heeft 'Dark Shades of Blue' een anders, iets donkerder, psychedelischer en meer rockend geluid.
Op zijn laatste album 'Koonyum Sun' keert hij terug naar zijn roots, maar dan met meer Afrikaanse invloeden.
Rudd is getrouwd met de Canadese Marci Lutken Rudd waarmee hij twee kinderen heeft. Hij is een vegetariër, werd in 2007 door PETA verkozen tot 'werelds meest sexy bekende vegetariër', en is voltijds barefooter.
