The and Avett and Brothers

The Avett Brothers is een folkrockband uit North Carolina, USA, en bestaat uit (hoe kan het ook anders) twee broers. Scott en Seth Avett spelen samen met Bob Crawford en Joe Kwon. De broers begonnen in 2000 met het schrijven van hun nummers, die een gepassioneerde combinatie zijn van bluegrass, country, punk, pop, folk, honky tonk en ragtime.

Het was met het elfde album “Emotionalism”, dat ze zich in de kijker speelden. Als geheel een schitterende eigenzinnige Americanaplaat, die geen enkele gelijkenis vertoont met welke andere band ook...
In 2009 werd de band door Rolling Stone Magazine uitgeroepen tot “A band to Watch in 2009” en verscheen het lovend besproken album ‘I And Love And You’.
Rick Rubin, die de productie op zich nam, levert samen met The Avett Brothers een vakkundige cd af, die in tegenstelling tot hun vorige albums niet in het teken staat van enthousiaste lichtzinnigheid, maar uiterst goed doordachte en uitgevoerde songs herbergt, met duidelijke minder jolige banjo's.
